Florida Southern College

Florida Southern College Music Department has partnered with FEMEA to host the Honor Choir and Orff Ensemble in their music rehearsal suites and the children will perform in the beautiful Branscomb Auditorium. Details such as parking, rehearsal locations, meal plans are currently being determined to provide an optimum experience for students, teachers and families. We are so excited to offer more opportunities to perform and learn for the best and brightest young musicians of Florida!


Lu Anne Leone

Ms. Leone has taught music to both elementary and middle school students in Broward County for over three decades. Lu Anne is a Nationally Board-Certified Teacher who also holds certification in Orff-Schulwerk and serves as a coveted elementary clinician at the county, district and state levels.

Ms. Leone currently serves on the Executive Board of the Broward Music Educators Association as BMEA Liaison and Advisory Member-at Large. She is a Past-President of FEMEA and served the Executive Board for many years. In 2010, she was named FMEA’s Florida Music Educator of the Year. Under the auspices of legendary Florida music leaders, Ms. Leone helped foster a climate where students have become FEMEA’s primary focus.

Sandy Lantz and Gretchen Wahlberg

Sandy Lantz and Gretchen Wahlberg are national board certified teachers who have taught elementary music in Florida for over 38 years. For nearly 20 years, they have taught Orff-Schulwerk Level I teacher training courses sponsored by the Central Florida Orff Chapter, Stetson University, Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida International Univ. They have co-taught workshop sessions at National Orff Schulwerk conferences, as well as, numerous state music conferences throughout the US. Together they have written the books, “Drum It Up”, “Creative Bits with Children’s Lit”, “Strum It Up” and “S’more Bits with Children’s Lit”.
